Butt Rock or Not

>> 01 July 2009

Remember the website "Hot or Not?" And how everyone placed their friends' pictures up so that that friend could either become an insufferable narcissist when they got scores of 9 or 10, or have their self-esteem crushed and then enter a downward spiral of Kurt Cobain-like depression (anything from a score of 5-down)?

Well, this has nothing to do with it. This is about you applying the BR education I have imparted to you in various mind-numbing posts. Now is the time to step forward and voice your opinion. What say ye of the Mighty Zep? State your evidence, and rank this shirt on a scale of 1-10 (1 being BR-free, 10 being Poison):

First off, I'm no music expert. So to me any black t-shirt for a musical group from that time frame qualifies. But given that I actually know the group, I give it an 8. By the way, where does your roommates Def Leopard fit? I recognize their name and admit I know nothing else about them.

To be honest, I would only give him a 6.5 Led Zepplin is too popular to be a true Butt Rock Band. Props for black t-shirt, but not quite what I was looking for!

I'd give him a 5. LZ isn't a Butt Rock band at all. However, the points come from the t-shirt being in black, and the fact that a butt-rock fan hanger-on may wear that shirt.

I would give 'em a 6. I don't consider Led Zepplin to be butt rock, but the shirt does give them some butt rock points if that is possible. And can I just say that the kid looks shy - yet proud of his shirt. But people that wear butt rock shirts usually are proud of their attire. Something else to think about...

Oh and my bad for spelling Zeppelin wrong the first time. Shame, shame :)

I am going to have to go with the majority of posters and give LZ roughly a 5. Their music is much more popular than most (read any) BR band. The shirt, however, definitely has an aire of BR about it, but I think if it were any other color than black it would lose its effect.

I am going to have to go with a . . . . . 5.5
